Arty bistro in an Art Deco building
Located in a historic building in the heart of Reykjavík, The Sólon Bistro takes its name from the celebrated Icelandic painter Sólon Íslandus. Inspired by his artistic spirit and individuality, the design brings a contemporary expression to its historic surroundings, creating a distinctive atmosphere that celebrates creativity and character.
Bold geometric patterns, rich textures and a warm, sophisticated colour palette define the interior. Curved velvet banquettes in earthy terracotta tones are complemented by richly veined marble tables, woven cane details and patterned upholstery. A striking bar with illuminated arched shelving creates a focal point, while sculptural lighting and graphic wall coverings introduce rhythm and visual interest.
The design balances playful details with refined materials, creating a warm and inviting setting for dining and social interaction. The result is a vibrant, characterful bistro where historic architecture meets contemporary design, celebrating craftsmanship, individuality and the pleasure of gathering.
